After a faculty party, George and Martha invite a younger couple, Nick and Honey, back to their home for a late-night drink. Hospitality gives way to verbal games, shifting alliances, and increasingly personal attacks as the two marriages are exposed to one another. Edward Albee's play follows the night toward its devastating conclusion, testing the stories people tell to survive together and the intimacy that remains when those stories fall apart.
