Every stage deserves its cue.
Affordable Qiu is a project by Neil Qiu Lighting Design. Through it, I make professional lighting equipment more accessible to independent theatre, so a limited budget doesn’t have to define the scale of an idea.Affordable Qiu 是 Neil Qiu Lighting Design 旗下的項目。我透過它，讓獨立劇場的創作者更容易用上專業燈光設備，不必因為預算有限，就先縮小自己的想法。
Making theatre一起做劇場
Theatre, to me, is like a kitchen.
There is a head chef and other chefs — each with a role, a skill, a responsibility. Only when we work together can we make something truly nourishing.廚房裡，每個人都有自己的手藝與分工，還得照應彼此的節奏。劇場也是如此：一齣戲的完成，靠的是不同創作者一起工作。
I believe that process itself is the art — every cue, every experiment, every shift in light, shape, or color is a reflection of how we collaborate and feel.創作不只在演出那一刻發生。反覆試光、調整色彩、推敲每一個 cue 的過程，都是作品的一部分。那些選擇裡，有我們對戲的理解，也有一起工作留下的痕跡。
For me, lighting isn’t just illumination — it is the architecture of emotion.對我來說，燈光讓情緒有了空間，也有了形狀。

Neil Qiu 邱嘉皓 is a lighting designer and theatre collaborator from Ningbo, Zhejiang, China, based in New York City and working worldwide.Neil Qiu 邱嘉皓是燈光設計師、劇場創作者，來自中國浙江寧波，現居紐約，參與世界各地的劇場創作。
Trained as both a craftsman and storyteller, he explores how light shapes emotion and connection. His work bridges art and precision — revealing the invisible structures that bring stories to life.他的工作從敘事出發，也講究技術與工藝。光如何改變空間、帶出人物的情緒，讓觀眾感受到人物之間的關係，是他持續關注的事。
