Romeo and Juliet fall in love in a city divided by their families' feud. Their secret marriage offers the possibility of a different future, but public violence and private decisions quickly close around them. Shakespeare's tragedy follows the young lovers as they try to make a life beyond inherited loyalties, while banishment, haste, and failed communication turn their hope of reunion into catastrophe.
