Los Angeles, 1971. Connie Lee, an Asian American actress whose career has been constrained by Hollywood stereotypes, meets a young white man in a diner. She begins to invest her unrealized ambitions in his future, drawing them into an increasingly complicated relationship. Peregrine Teng Heard's Redemption Story examines alienation, racial identity, and conditional love, asking what people seek in one another and what happens when care becomes inseparable from projection.
